Workplace Wellness
Helping people perform at their best, by understanding how their brains work.
Stress affects far more than wellbeing. It affects focus, communication, decision-making, creativity, confidence and how a team works together.
Evidence-based workplace wellbeing programmes with Dorset Hypnotherapy Practice combine practical neuroscience, Solution Focused psychology and guided relaxation, all explained in plain, relatable language, to help employees and groups reduce stress, build resilience and create healthier, more productive ways of working.

When people understand why they react the way they do, they can respond differently
Most of us have heard genuinely helpful wellbeing advice at some point: take a break, breathe, be kinder to yourself, build resilience. However, it's often the case that we still slip back into old habits.
I take a slightly different approach. I help your team genuinely understand what's happening inside their brains when they feel stressed, overwhelmed or stuck, and once people understand that, real change becomes possible. This enables people to stop blaming themselves, begin to recognise the patterns, and gain practical tools to respond differently.
The result is feeling calmer, clearer, and more confident. These measurable outcomes underpin benefits from communication and decision-making, to creativity, relationships and productivity.
"The visualisation was really powerful, and so was the science behind stress and anxiety. It's given us the tools to take away - not just the session, but tools to carry on using. You don't have to be a scientist; the way you explained it was really good. Where else do you get that, in layman's terms, with the stories and examples? Enlightening and insightful."

What makes these programs different
After running programmes for teams and gathering detailed feedback, two things come up again and again.
Participants consistently tell me they value:
-
Understanding the science in jargon-free, relatable language. Just the right amount of detail to gain real insight into how their own minds work, explained clearly.
-
Leaving with practical tools they can keep using, long after the session has finished, so the benefit continues rather than fading soon after sessions have ended.
That combination, genuine understanding plus tools people actually use, is what makes these sessions memorable and effective, and what makes them different from a one-off "wellbeing talk".
"Helen did a group hypnotherapy session. Prior to this she explained briefly how our brain works, which really helps to understand our thoughts and feelings. Very relaxed and calm afterwards."
Karen S. (Group session)
A group setting, but a completely private experience
When people hear "group session", they sometimes imagine having to open up in front of colleagues. I want to put that worry to rest straight away: there's never any sharing at any point, in any part of the session.
Nobody is asked to talk about their problems, disclose anything personal, or contribute in front of the room. The reflective moments, including the personal goals each person leaves with, are done quietly and privately, in their own mind. Whatever someone chooses to work on stays entirely their own.
Attendees often tell me this is one of the things they value most. It means everyone can properly relax and take real, personal value away, without a moment's worry about what they might have to say out loud.
Typical 3-Session Program
I offer a coherent three-part wellbeing programme that can be delivered in full, or tailored and taken individually to suit your organisation's needs. Each session stands alone so participants are able to effectively join in with one or all.
1 Rebalance - understanding stress and restoring calm
Helping people understand the stress response in plain English, why we feel overwhelmed, and how to bring the mind back to calm. Participants leave feeling noticeably calmer, and with a new way of thinking about stress.
2 Reset - building confidence and changing unhelpful patterns
Introducing the powerful connection between mind and body, and how people can begin to strengthen confidence, steadier thinking and healthier habits. Participants leave with a practical technique they can keep using themselves.
3 Refocus - creating motivation, clarity and momentum
Helping people cut through overwhelm, find clarity on what matters most, and take small, achievable steps forward. Participants leave with real, personal actions and a renewed sense of motivation.
The programme naturally progresses from calming the mind, to building confidence, to creating momentum, while each session also stands complete on its own.

Why understanding the brain belongs in the workplace
When we're under sustained pressure, our primitive protective part of the brain takes over, the part responsible for the fight-flight-freeze feeling. In that state, we're more reactive, we find it harder to think clearly, harder to make good decisions, and harder to collaborate calmly. None of that is a personal failing; it's simply how human brains respond to stress.
The exciting part is that our brains are adaptable throughout life. With the right understanding and practical, evidence-based techniques, we can begin to learn how to spend more time in the calm, rational, problem-solving part of the brain, and less time stuck in survival mode. That shift is good for personal wellbeing and has a positive affect on performance. The wellness programs with Dorset Hypnotherapy Practice are designed to take advantage of neuroplasticity and the brain's natural ability to create new, positive healthy pathways, decreasing stress and creating forward momentum.
Is this a genuine, evidence-based approach?
Yes. The programmes draw on Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, an approach grounded in neuroscience and increasingly supported by research.
A 2024 peer-reviewed feasibility study into online Solution Focused Hypnotherapy with police personnel found that everyone who completed treatment responded positively, and a 2024 Frontiers in Psychology review of two decades of clinical hypnosis research found the overwhelming majority of outcomes were positive.
I'm a registered member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH), the Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH) and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), I'm fully insured and DBS-checked, and I trained at CPHT in Bristol. Alongside my clinical practice, I volunteer with the Samaritans, which continually deepens my understanding of stress, pressure and wellbeing.
"Helen is very professional and knowledgeable in her field and presented a powerful, impactful group session to myself and some of my business colleagues. At the end of the session I felt relaxed, calm and more positive."
